What are your top 5 books that you enjoy? [livejournal.com profile] flirting

Thank you for asking me my top 5 and not my top 3 or my favorite... It's so difficult when it comes to books! Even choosing just 5 was a difficult task! LOL

I'll do a top 5 books at the end of the year with my favorite books among what I read this year! And I hope to be able to do it every year! This list hasn't changes in a long time... Position number 5 changes occasionally, but number 1 and 2 are pretty strong!

This list is quite weird because all the books are extremely different as for topic, form and language.

My all time top 5 is:
1. Hamlet by William Shakespeare I've loved this book since the first time I read it and I saw every movie it came out about it! I think it's Shakespeare greatest work and the best play of all times!
2. The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet I read this book many times! I love the story and I love way the characters are written. They are so human!
3. La Lenteur (Slowness) by Milan Kundera Again another book I go back to often! The best among the other books by Kundera
4. Novecento by Alessandro Baricco Amazing monologue! I wanted Eric to read it but I can't find an english copy, but the movie The Legend of 1900 with Tim Roth is based on this book. If you can;t read the book, watch the movie. It's a masterpiece!
5. The History of Love by Nicole Krauss so moving and so well written! I love this author!

Why is it that after all of these years of fighting "labels" are we now labeling ourselves. (LBGTQIA, CIS, etc) What are your thoughts on labels? [livejournal.com profile] cherrytattoo77

This is a topic I feel very strongly about and I hope I'll be able to give a clear answer, because - when I get excited about something -  I start going on and on and on about it and I get very philosophical xD I'll try to avoid that. Promise!

I HATE labels! Humans are all unique and there should be no labeling if not one: ME!

I am who I am. No matter my sexual orientation, my color, my beliefs. The things that make me different and unique make me beautiful. I don't need to belong to a group of people to be accepted, I need to meet different people to be able to grow, without differences we are nothing, we're not humans!

I think kids got it right: bring a kid to a park (your kid or the kis of someone you know, don't kidnap anyone for this experiment) and let it go play... They will play with whomever is there... They're not going to ask the other kids for whom they're going to vote, if they are Vegans or what's their heritage. They're not going to give a damn about what they wear as long as it's comfortable... They just label each other as "stuff i can play with" and everything falls in that category.

This is why I am not okay with Tumblr and with lists like THIS... Why do we do this to ourselves? If we really want to be accepted for who we are, why do we spend so much time trying to put little pieces of ourselves into different boxes? I don't understand it.

So who am I? I am ME! I don't have to tell you which age group I belong to, if I'm democrat, liberal or republican, if I'm white or hispanic or black,... if I'm gay, het or any other if that definition that are in that list... I am who I am, talk to me, see what's inside of me and then make your decision about me. Don't separate me into labeled boxes until there's nothing left of me. Let's go to the park and play! All these letters don't matter, they never did and they never will! The only thing they'll do is making us grow apart and loose our individuality.

What is your favourite thing about your husband? [livejournal.com profile] verdande_mi

The way he looks at the World! His kindness and his MASSIVE heart!
I'm not saying this because I adore him, but because he genuinely is a fantastic human being! He sees the World with the wonder of a child and he always see the good in people and things. I never thought people like him existed!

Occasionally can be a little bitch and that's even more entertaining... when you hear someone so nice and kind saying something completely naughty is the funniest thing!

He is creative and he doesn't care about what other people think. He's so generous... He helped a guy who won the Green Card Lottery get his family to America. This guy was working 2 jobs and trying to support his wife and kids back home. This guy ended up working for Eric in a construction project while he was working with his brother in Long Island, and one day he asked him a question. Eric didn't know the answer but he went looking for it and he made David's dream come true. He used his money, his resources, he gave the guy a home and helped him being reunited with his family and never asked anything in return! This is just one of the many things he did and it's not even in the top 10 list of things I love about him!

He's just amazing!
erychan86: (Mood: Okay)
What is your favourite colour and why? [livejournal.com profile] lifefailsme

Indigo! Because - to me - it's the color of the universe! :D

I just love the color! I've always been into every shade of blue since I was a kid and I remember telling my aunt that I shouldn't be forced to like pink and have pink stuff because I'm a girl! So I asked my dad to paint my room light blue and he did without questions! And I was like "take this aunt" LOL! I was 6 or 7 and my mother still laughs thinking about how mad I was about the whole pink girls blue boys!

But somehow I always end up surrounded by yellow, so I choose Indigo, but yellow chose me xD
erychan86: (Music/Musical)
I'm excited about this question because I have the same question for next week, so I need to listen to some new music... :D

Favorite song right now? [livejournal.com profile] ragnarok_08

I have a favorite album at the moment that I listen to on repeat and it's Atlas by Sleeping at Last. It's not something new, I've been in love with this album for a very long time... I have troubles choosing a favorite song because they are so many! My first love was Saturn and - after I've used it for my Ten/Rose Music Video I started playing it at the guitar too so I think if I have to choose one that would be it!

My other favorite are Earth, Sun and Light. It's a great album and you should give it a try!
_______

Eric and I are in York, PA! Finally... We got in last night and we went straight to bed!
We drove through Washington DC and that got me so excited! I really want to go visit the Capitol!
It's the first time I've been in the new house (his mom and step-dad moved in a year ago) and I love it! It's crazy to think I've haven't seen my in-laws for more than a year now... But I guess is kind of normal since we live so far away and Eric and I travel a lot! Anyway it is definitely fall up here! I wasn't ready for the temperature change and I'm both happy (YAY SEASONS) and worried because I only have summer clothes xD

Last night, before going to bed, I opened all the packages I sent up there in the past 3 months and I forgot I had bought all that awesome stuff! That's the best thing about not having an address, you have to send stuff somewhere else and then collect it after a while and it's like Christmas!

So now I have Han Solo (Ceremony) Pop, finally a cute Han Solo Pop. Number 2 and 3 of the Han Solo Comic Book. The World According to Star Wars a book I was very excited about since I saw it online and, since [livejournal.com profile] orangerful liked it, I can't wait to read it! 1 Birchbox box (there was an offer on the website I do my daily surveys and I wanted to try it) full of make up and 3 of my ipsy glambags, where I finally received something for my brows and something for my hair!

I can't wait for lunch because we're going to have Isaac's and I LOVE their soup! I would move up north just for Isaac's alone... But I'd have to give up on my Veggie Burgers at Burger-Fi since that's a chain that's just in Florida... Oh I hate this LOL!
erychan86: (Mood: Okay)
Eric and I are still traveling North.
We've stopped for the night in Fayetteville, NC, and now we're going going out to explore and for some breakfast... I'm craving Krispy Kreme... That Offer on National Coffee Day definitely worked because I'm hooked up!
We've never stop here so I hope I'll find something pretty! :D
____________

[livejournal.com profile] imagine_peace asked What is the best thing about living in Italy? What about the United States?

I was talking with Eric about it the other day (he loves Italy) and I was telling him how my leaving home (Italy) made me learn how to love it and miss it... but still, now I'd never being able to give up on the US . Every time I leave Florida I instantly miss it, and it happens the same when I'm leaving Italy too! So, a thing that I really like about both places is that they're able to make me feel home and I find myself missing them when I'm not there! I don't take either Country for granted!

The best thing about living in Italy is food! Sorry to be too obvious! And it's all about the quality, not the variety. Everything is good... and the coffee (but if you buy a Nespresso Coffee Maker you can have Italian Coffee at home too). I love the energy of Italians and they way they move. I like that are pretty straight forward, meaning: if I don't like you I'll let you know, while Americans are (from my experience) too nice and sometimes it comes out as fake. I like the fact that when I'm there I'm surrounded by History and Old Souls! Italy makes me feel good about being who I am, and it gives me an heaviness that I like to have in me.

The best thing about living in America is the variety. You can find everything you can possibly think about! Everything is vast and new! I love the sense of unlimited possibilities! America makes me want to be better and expand my horizons. Makes me feel like everything is possible and lifts my spirit! Also FREE WIFI EVERYWHERE! That's the best thing! Restaurants are open all day (if you want to eat at 3 pm in Italy you probably won't find any restaurant open) as well as shops! If I'm low on milk I can go to CVS even in the middle of the night! That's handy!

So, in a few words: Together, this Countries make me whole! That's the thing I love the most!!!

Third day of the Ask Me Anything Meme!

The question of the day is: What is your favourite flower and why? [livejournal.com profile] monkiainen

I had to think a bit about it because there are a lot of flowers that I like, but then I had to go back to the the first that came to mind! The Sunflower!
I just like the fact it looks like the Sun and it constanly searches for it. It's like a love story!!! That doesn't sound like a healthy love story though... you're copying your loved one and keep looking for them... nope definitely unhealthy XD but I like the flower anyway!
Also, Van Gogh is my favorite painter and he painted a lot of sunflowers, so... :D

Sunflowers are also known for their symmetry based on Fibonacci numbers and that's just awesome!!!
______

Eric and I are traveling north. We left this morning the apartment in Fort Lauderdale, FL and we're now driving up to York, PA where we're going to be for 2 weeks before leaving for Italy again! We are about to cross the border and enter Georgia... Florida stretches quite a lot!

We're going to stop somewhere on the road and break the trip in 2 parts since Eric is doing all the driving... I only drive in Italy XD

For those who don't know I can't drive in America because the streets are too wide... it scares me! I need to get a Florida driving licence so that I have a document with my married name on it that is not my green card or credit card... but I just can't... it goes again against all I know... taking the test, driving in a parking lot with a car with no stick seems like a crime! So I'm postponing and I have to let Eric sit behind the wheel...
erychan86: (Craig Ferguson: Craig Approves)
Day 2 of the Ask me anything Meme and if you want to ask more questions feel free to do so, ask away in the comments here! The more the better!

[livejournal.com profile] ragnarok_08 asked me: Favorite childhood TV shows?

It can come off as shocking since I watch (and watched) so much TV, but it all happened quite recently LOL [HERE a list of all the show I've watched] infact, I wasn't into TV as a kid *insert shocked emoji here*! In my defense I can say there wasn't that wonderful thing called internet back then, or at least it wasn't so easy to get... Do not be sad for me though, I had a wonderful childhood, and I was out all day on my bike with my gang, but I LOVED cartoons and I LOVED Sailor Moon! (Still Love it still Watch it #SailorMoonCrystal where is the next season, WHERE?).

I was only watching TV while having lunch and dinner and then out the door. During lunch I watched Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball but in the evening I wasn't in charge of what to watch.

Niles is still my everything! He was the original shipper LOL!

Dad was in charge and he LOVES the news (I still can't stand it) but he knew I wasn't a fan so, before the news, we were watching The Nanny and I LOVED the Nanny. Such a fun show... Fun thing I discovered years later is that the Italian dubbing changed everything. Fran (for us Francesca)'s mother and grandmother were her aunt and great aunt in our version, and she was from a city next to Rome instead being from Queens, and there was no mention of the fact they were jewish... They were italians... I watched it again years later and it was like watching a new show! Maybe Fran and Mr Sheffield are actually my very first TV ship! Niles is definitely related to me! We both ship so hard!
erychan86: (Ship: Harvey/Donna (Suits))
Happy October, FList!

I hope the first thing you guys said this morning was BAD RABBIT.
No, I'm not crazy. There's this British guy, Nick, that comes often on the yacht to do some repairs on the marble (so many damages, so much money) and once he asked, while were working in the same space, if that morning I said "Bad Rabbit" I laughed and I said "No, I said COFFEEEEEE, PLEASEEEEE, like every morning, why?" and he told me in Britain they have this thing, that if you say Bad Rabbit as the first thing the first day of the month, you're going to have a wonderful month! Well, when I woke up this morning I asked for coffee, so my October won't be brilliant, but still my day started right, with the most important thing: a nice warm cappuccino!

Before I start answering your lovely questions, I know there are some brits here among my lovely friends, and I'd like to know if Nick was just making fun of me, and now, at the beginning of every month he laughs thinking about me yelling Bad Rabbit, or you guys know about this thing too...

[livejournal.com profile] ragnarok_08 & [livejournal.com profile] flirting asked a very similar question:
What's your favorite thing about autumn? & What do you like about fall/autumn?

I like fall a lot, I like every seasons to be honest, because when you live in Florida, it's a never ending summer... That's nice, don't get me wrong... I don't have to have too many clothes, coats are expensive so I save money, and I can get out in the evening with just one layer or 2 on. But Oh I miss the seasons!

When I'm in Italy in the fall I LOVE to cuddle up with a book and a blanket and drink hot chocolate (that I made myself because I like it extra thick) that's maybe the best thing for me. It's chilly but not cold and I can keep the window open, and everything smells like chestnuts and spices... The colors are so vivid! I like rainy days in the fall, because the colors are just so full, especially in the evening when the lights hit the dead leaves... SO MUCH COLOR! To me Fall means Evolving and make the best out of what you have! It's like the adult among the seasons and it makes me feel wise!

What matters most to you and why? [livejournal.com profile] topum
My family. Knowing that my family is okay, healthy and happy is all that matters to me! I can't think about the fact one day I will have to survive my parents and my husband. It makes me want to cry, so the thing that matters the most is to keep them healthy and happy. My husband is vegetarian and this is a good thing because americans eat too much meat and that can cause problems. I'm not a vegetarian but I basically act like one because I never cook meat and I tend not to eat meat or fish at restaurants unless I know I can trust the chef. So I know he'll be fine for a long time, I cannot think about living a life without him. We always say that when the time comes we're going to go jump in a volcano LOL!

Hello Flist!
Hope you're having a great Thursday, also known as baby Friday xD I thought t drop by for a quick update!

➜ Now that Eric is home (thank you for all your safe travel messages) I'm super busy and very happy! I hate to be alone and it's so great having him around with his post-it notes full of ideas and things to do and his energy... playing my guitar while I check my email... It's just lovely! It has been a long time since we spent some quality time together and we needed it!

➜ Today is the best day ever because it's National Coffee Day and - as you know - I LOVE COFFEE with all my heart! I checked online for coffee offers and it looks like Krispy Kreme gives away free coffees and free glazed doughnuts so that's where we're headed after lunch!

➜ Yesterday we went to Barnes & Noble because I had a 25 $ gift card to use and there were some pretty good deals, so I ended up buying quite a lot of books and - of course - I want to read them all now! I bought (from the bargain priced table):
-(Something) Borrowed and (Something) Blue by Emily Giffin: two books in one, I saw the movie Something Borrowed a couple of months ago, and I liked it a lot and - since the book is always better than the movie - I thought it was a good idea to get it (and it was less than 6 $)!
-The Grown Ups by Robin Antalek: I love books that explore bonds between families and friends and this seems pretty well written!
-Our Red Hot Romance by Dixie Cash: because the story seems fun even if the title seems to be about something different. She's a funny writer so I know I'll have fun with it!
-The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom: because I read The First Call from Heaven recently and I love the way this guy writes! This book seems even more interesting, so I can't wait!
Then I went upstairs and I ended up buying more books, full price this time xD
-My Grandmother Asked Me to tell You She's Sorry and A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman because I've been meaning to buy them both since the day thay came out but I never did and now it was time. I was attracted by A Man Called Ove because I liked The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared (Jonas Jonasson) so much, and this book reminded me of it.
-The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan because it sounds like a story of self discovery and I love that.
-The Whispers Beyond the Veil by Jessica Estevao because period drama YAY

➜ The DVD section at B&N it's so AWFUL... very disorganized (like whole book store to be honest...) I don't really like B&N but it's the only book store around here. I went in, looking for Suits BlueRay (I wanted to check the fearures) and I just wanted to reorganize it all! Of course, every time I'm there, people asks me where to find books and I end helping them... It's like no one works there and people get so confused because it's so badly organized, so I feel like I need to help them. I should aply for a job there... I'd love to organize the store and I know already I can help and I could talk about books all the time! :D

➜ I still have some space for questions on my Ask me Anything Meme so feel free to comment (even here) with some questions if you feel like it! :)
erychan86: (David Tennant (Photoshoot))
It's Friday! And it means I can ask you guys a question!
I didn't know this before last Friday but [livejournal.com profile] hanorganaas made an entry last week (HERE) where she said she saw this FLIST Friday around and I want to try it!

First because you are asking me amazing questions for my October Meme (please don't stop keep asking. I'm loving it!) and I want to repay you, second because it's a nice thing to do weekly!

So the rule is one and it's simple. Each week I'll try to post a question, you can answer in the comments, and we can have a nice chat! How does it sound?

Yesterday Pottermore launched a new feature so that now we can find out about our Patronus!
What's yours Patronus? Are you happy with it? Why?
Mine is... )
erychan86: (Craig Ferguson: Craig Approves)
I've been thinking about it and I want to do it again! And now that I have a lot of new friends seems likt the right moment to do it...

Here are the rules:
- Pick any day (or more than one) and ask any question, I'll answer that question in a new entry on that day... I mean it... ask ANYTHING from fandom stuff to real life, don't be shy cause I'm not!
- Multiple questions are not a problem, I'm ready to open up people...
- Don't be afraid of asking on a day that's already taken... The more the merrier!

I loved it way too much the first time and it's a great way to be able to share and to post more! Please ASK away! I LOVE questions and the craziest the better! Just go wild! (I'm already very excited!)

Hello F-List!
I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was very productive!

I settled in into the apartment and made a couple of trips to storage to gather what I needed to survive this month (Mac, Coffee Maker, Extra Pillow, Bike, Leftover stuff from my last staying,...) and - as per usual - the change of time zone didn't messed up my body *pats herself on the back* although, my mind was struggling with getting use to it... But anyway:

➜ Welcome new friends: [livejournal.com profile] xfirefly9x, [livejournal.com profile] batmarg, [livejournal.com profile] tigtogiba34, [livejournal.com profile] favoritexrecord, [livejournal.com profile] cherrytattoo77, [livejournal.com profile] sometimesartist, [livejournal.com profile] frelling_tralk, [livejournal.com profile] imagine_peace, [livejournal.com profile] xlovebecomesher and [livejournal.com profile] mimoiikit143 (please let me know if I'm forgetting someone) I'm so excited... I can't wait to get to know you all better! :)

➜ Since I added a lot of new friends I wanted to know if you feel like I should do an introduction post or you would rather me making a question meme where you can come and ask whatver you feel like (I love weird/intriguing/crazy questions... oh I love the so much!) or something similar... You tell me what you want me to do, and I'll do it. I was also thinking I want to do some sort of a weekly post about fandoms and ships, since I have so many... And a monthly post with my favourite things... I don't know... All I know I'm a control freak and I want to do something very organized xD

➜ My weekend was all about music videos, as you might know. I've been waiting two long months to be reunited with my Mac and I just felt like spending a lot of time with it... Especially considering outside it's so hot... Florida, WTF?! I posted my Vincent Van Gogh [Doctor Who] the other day and I'm so excited to see so many of you commented on it and liked it! Thank you very much. It means the World to me! Last night I finished my Donna/Harvey [Suits] Music Video and I think it's the best video I've made so far. Maybe because I love the song so much [Poison & Wine by The Civil Wars] or maybe because I've been obsessed with suits recently (I binge-watch the whole thing in 2 weeks) I don't know... Today I'll fix some minor errors, so that I can make it perfect and I'll post it very soon. Next one might be another Doctor Who one... A Ten/Rose because I just have the perfect song for them and I miss that ship very much!

➜ I should make a couple of pic spams but I'm kind of bored with the layout and I would like something different and I should make some icons one of these days!

➜ I'm currently reading The Post Birthday World by Lionel Shriver, but I'm not giving it enough time... It's a very good book (if you liked the movie Sliding Doors, you might consider reading it) but it goes very deep into the head of the protagonist and there are not a lot of things happening so far.

➜ Last week the TV season started for me with Blindspot and the episode was great! Very strong season premiere, let's hope the show won't have as many fillers as last year! I'm very interested in the story. But my TV season really starts this week: I can't wait for Lucifer tonight, I loved season one and the cliffhanger was so good... and I cannot wait! Tomorrow Agents of SHIELD and Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be back in my weekly schedule, so I can spend my Tuesdays flipping tables for one and laughing with the other... and then Sunday: Once Upon a Time... Feels like this season has potential. We need a great bad guy and who's better than the Evil Queen? I mean this trailer makes me think this season could be awesome... There's going to be a lot of Lana and this makes me so happy! I'm adding to my calendar The Good Place as well because of Kristen Bell's face! I don't know if it's going to be any good but I need some comedies!
erychan86: (Mood: Droid Please)
I know, I know... The joke is old but I could't find a better title! :)

Thank you guys about all the "safe travels" messages... I am here, safe and sound. It has been a pretty intense journey, and yesterday, it was one of the busiest days of my life.

Since basically I don't have a home, and I keep moving from a place to another every 6 months keeping all my stuff in a storage unit, I have this need to settle in right away. The night I got in Fort Lauderdale, I had to unpack and go to storage to get my iMac (I've missed you so much, baby) and my Nespresso Coffee Maker... So when I woke up yesterday morning I had my nice coffee (I stuffed my suitcase with Italian Nespresso Compatible capsules... better and cheaper) and I turned on my Mac that has been working non stop to vonvert from .mkv to .mp4 all the Suits episode...

It's taking so long because I'm converting 1080p files, so that than I can finally work on my Harvey/Donna Music Video. (I have to because Final Cut Pro doesn't read .mkv yet). I'm so excited about this video. I'm using Poison & Wine by the Civil Wars (Here listen to this AMAZING song) and the song is just so perfect for this couple... While iSkysoft is working on converting all the episodes, I'm also working on another music video about Vincent Van Gogh with the song Starry Starry Night (not the Don McLean version but the Josh Groban one, because I like the rhythm better) using clips from Vincent and the Doctor from Doctor Who. I've been thinking about this video for years now, and while I was listening to some old playlists on my flight, it all came back to me and so here I am! Very excited about this project too!

I also wanted to say hello to my new friends: [livejournal.com profile] adamas, [livejournal.com profile] flirting, [livejournal.com profile] hanorganaas, [livejournal.com profile] jediknightmuse, [livejournal.com profile] kaitydid33087, [livejournal.com profile] monkiainen, [livejournal.com profile] moongirl24, [livejournal.com profile] ragnarok_08 and [livejournal.com profile] topum and I decided to upload a new-ish profile (Click) but I have to still work on it, and write something interesting in there... I was thinking about making another *insert month here* question meme, since it seems the better way to get to know people better... Let me know if you think I should do it... I had so much fun last time I did it and the questions were EXCELLENT!

Oh and here another friending meme! :) I love this stuff and this one is a very good one, so go check it out!!!

I'm right here :)

That will be all from me! Have a great day!
erychan86: (Real Life: Books)
Last day of the month and last question. I want to thank you all for your wonderful questions and I'm looking forward to do this again! I had wonderful comments to my answers that led me to know you all better and I'm very glad, so Thank you again, guys! I hope you enjoyed it too! Here the question of the day... one of my favorite!

What are your favorite kind of tropes in fiction? What are some tropes that you dislike? What tropes do you think we need more of? [livejournal.com profile] rogueslayer452

I don't think there is a favorite trope I am attracted to, I definitely have a couple of littarature generes I tend to go to, but I'm fine with a trope as long as it surprises me and it doesn't became a cliché. I tend to read a lot of Historical Fiction, Sci Fi Novels, Romantic Novels (non cheesy) and Classics. I sometimes go to Fantasy but just if it's for Adults... and I might try Contemporary Novels occasionally, but it's rare for me to get swept into it. I might do it if I know the author and I already like the way he/she writes. Basically if something is well written and I trust the author I'm able to enjoy andy kind of trope. Said so there are some tropes that are strictly connected with a genere and I would never get close to them, not even if the book is for free...

I have a very bad relationship with young adult books... I always had problems with it even as a teen, and in Young Adult (and also in Romantic Fiction) the tropers thet are too often used and abused, and I don't like at all are:
- The first time you fall in love you are 16-ish and he/she is THE ONE and you're going to be together forever. BORING. I get instant attraction, but instant Love is just annoying. I like my OTP to get to know each other and get there in a reasonable amount of time. I'm a sucker for romance, but the real kind of romance.
- The Love Triangle where 99% of the times there are two boys fighting for a girl. The two boys are either very close or nemesis. Why can't we have two girls and a boy? Anyway love triangles are just an excuse to make the story move forward slowly. The only book I've read with a very good love triangle was The Fortune Hunter with a man torn between two women, and I enjoyed it quite a lot! So maybe the reverse triangle would be an interesting trope for me...
- The Damned/Forbidden Love between a Human and a Supernatural Creature. With all that Emo drama... And the girl is always super gorgeous and clumsy and no one notice her but THE ONE. So unrealistic...
So basically Twilight is the worst book ever for me LOL! Followed by 50 Shades of Gray (that, after all was a Twilight AU FanFiction).
A trope I like in Romantic Fiction (or any other kind of fiction) is when the soon-to-be OTP fight a lot, and there's a lot of chemistry and UST... Like Elizabeth and Darcy in Pride and Prejudice... Such a great book...

Sci-Fi Novels have some tropes I tend to roll my eyes but I don't dislike as much as the ones I just mentioned.
- Space Travel and Time Travel. Love it... The only thing I don't like is the immediate future is creepy because we're all the same (we dress the same, we have the same cars/ships, we're all pale,...) and the far away future is creepier because we're back to cave men/women dressed with animal skins etc. Technology is gone and we don't know how to get it back... It seems like the only thing smart we had was our phone and without it we're not able to do anything but go back to prehistorical times.
- The Aliens are always smarter than us and they want to kill us all. That I don't like. Why do they want to kill us and why do they want to study us? If I was able to travel to other planets would be for knowledge, just the same thing I do when I travel to another State... Just to take a look and learn new things... It's not like I want to go visit Canada to make experiments on Canadians to find out why they are so polite. And I don't want to visit Japan to just kill the entire population just because... That's probably why I like Star Wars Novels and Doctor Who Novels where Space and Time travel is used in a different way. The Doctor travels like he's on vacation and the Star Wars Characters interact with other species in a natural way.

One thing I don't like that you can find way too often in action books is the extremely smart dialogue in dangerous situation. They're shooting at you and your friends and you come out with a very smart joke to say and your pal answer you with the same level of wittiness... That's not realistic and annoying...

So basically the only tropes I like and I want more is the kind that can still surprise me. I like to be put in a situation where I think I know how it's going to go but then I find out I'm so wrong... But at the end of the day I'd read anything if well written... xD

July 30th - In your opinion, what is an annoying trend in fandom that needs to stop? [livejournal.com profile] rogueslayer452

I'm not sure how to answer to this question. Like, do you mean a trend in a fandom of my choice that I think it needs to stop or just in general... If you mean in general then I'd say: People need to stop getting offended by anything and being rude. This is why I'm still here on LJ and I didn't jumped into tumblr (I have an account, but I rarely use it) there people are just too crazy sometimes... I only read nasty comments and people act like spoiled brat... They don't want to hear you if you don't agree with them. Here on LJ people have conversations, and even if 2 people don't agree on something, both of them get out of the conversation (not argument) with more informations and a clearer idea of the point of view of the other person.

July 29th - What are your thoughts on remakes/reboots? What are some key factors into making a successful and respectful remake? [livejournal.com profile] rogueslayer452

As I accidentally mentioned the other day, I 'm not a big fan of remakes/reboots. I mean, am I going to watch a remake/reboot of a show I was use to watch? Hell yes, but before watching it you'll see me go through the stages of grief:

1. Denial: Oh no no no, it can't be happening. That was such a great show... they can't...

2. Anger: NO! They're totally going to ruin it. The ending wasn't that bad (the ending is 95% of the times bad IMHO... I'm extremely rarely happy with the ending of a show today because the creators go for the OMG factor, to surprise thr fan... I'm looking at you How I Met Your Mother with your STUPID ending I'll NEVER forgive you Craig Thomas and Carter Bays) and now they're going to make a mess of it. Damn it! I'm NOT going to watch it.

3. Bargaining: Oh... Look... The original cast is all there... They're so pretty... I can watch just one episode... I mean... They're not going to mess it all up right from the start, right? Maybe just a couple...

4. Depression: It was such a good show. Why do I want to do that to myself? The crazy amount of feels the first run gave me wasn't enough? All the tears... all the flipped tables... all these sleepless night because it Italy we're 6 hours ahead,... WHY?? *ugly sobbing*

5. Acceptance: You know what? I'm going to watch it. I'm probably going to hate every minute of it but damn it it's good to see these faces again!

I think networks should stop thinking about making money right away on something they know will sell because it already has a fanbase, and start concentrating again on original contents, creating new fandoms. 75% of the time a new show is out you hear the magic words: "Show XYZ based on the national best seller ZYX" now they're even doing shows based on movies like Minority Report and Limitless,... Were they good shows? Limitless definitely was, and it should have been renewed, but that's not the point...

To finish answering your question: the key factor to a successful and respectful remake is thinking about what else the show and its story could give to its fans... What is left to say... and work from there, instead of thinking about how much more money a new character, for instance, would bring in terms of franchising.
erychan86: (Mood: Okay)
Today I wasn't suppose to be in a rush but I am. I really can't wait for a day when I can actually stop. I commented on posts from my phone every time I could break away for a second, so I'm sorry if some of them are full of grammar horrors!

Today question is brought to us by [livejournal.com profile] rogueslayer452 What is one fandom that you would love to see a revival for?

I'm the kind of person who complains about all these revivals and movies/shows coming out form book adaptations... I feel like we're in need of fresh stuff... but, for tv networks and production labels, is definitely easier to make money from something that already has a fan base. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely excited when I hear some of the shows/movies I loved are coming back... You should have see me reacting to the news they were doing an Episode VII of Star Wars! I will definitely watch Gilmore Girls because: HELL YEAH!, I jumped into the X-Files like there was no other choice, when I saw the Scofield brothers reunited in Flash and in Legends of Tomorrow I got all nostalgic and than BAM Prison Break: the sequel...

I get very excited because I'm human... but I'm always also very scared when I read/hear something is coming back, so I don't know which show I loved I would like to have back and risk the possibility it would get ruined... If I was absolutely certain there was NO chance to screw it up, I would like to have a revival of Firefly (NOT on Fox) with ALL the original cast, Wash included (maybe they cloned him, he has a twin brother? I don't know but Alan Tudyk HAS to be part of it!

A couple of years ago I would have said I would have loved another season of Friends, because I miss them so much... But the actors keep guest starring in each others shows so I'm okay with it! :) I can't wait to see which one of them will appear on Matt LeBlanc's new comedy!!! :)

Oh and if I could have just one episode of a HIMYM revival, where they erase everything that happened in the season finale I would pay out of my pocket...

I'm alive!

Sorry I've been MIA for the last couple of days but I had some friends over and I was extremely busy. I'll do a post later (or in the next couple of days) with some photos, but for now I still am on a rush!

So on July 20th [livejournal.com profile] orangerful asked 3 random things about Italy or Italians we should all know!

1. Since you asked this question to me you know what's going to be the main focus of this answer: COFFEE... Here are the basic rules: a) an espresso is NEVER more than 25/30 ml. b) if you ask for a Latte in a coffee shop in Italy they'll give you milk c) Cappuccino is socially acceptable ONLY at breakfast, but you can ask for a macchiato: an espresso with a little bit of milk foam... a mini cappuccino basically xD
2. FOOD: a) Garlic Bread, Spaghetti and Meat Ball and Alfredo Sauce are not Italian: we eat plain bread during a meal (no butter oil or vinegar with it), Spaghetti and Meatball go basically always separate (different meals or different plates) and Alfredo for us is just a name :D b) When you make pasta you add salt to the boiling water before putting the pasta in and NOT OLIVE OIL (that prevents the sauce to mix with the pasta and it's just plain sad)
3. THE BIDET is the best thing in the world. To answer some of the questions I've been asked about it: Yes, every Italian has it, no, it's not a little tub for babies, yes, we still use toiler paper before it. In America I actually take a shower every time I do number 2. We're very protective of our ceramic friend!

BONUS: Italians are not patriotic... We HATE and LOVE Italy equally. For every thing we love we have one we hate and viceversa.

Also you should watch this hilarious video about Italians VS Europeans, quite accurate xD:

And on July 21st [livejournal.com profile] rogueslayer452 asked If you could use the technology seen on Stitchers, would you be one of the engineer team members or could you handle the emotional and psychological aspects of being someone like Kirsten of stitching into the memories of the deceased?
Since my background I would have to say I'd be the one who uses the tech, but I think I'd be good at what Kirsten does, I have a photographic memory and I'm very good at solving mysteries. I can also be extremely cold and I - sadly - don't have a lot of compassion for people I don't know... I always feel like I should be more touched by what happens in other people lives, but often I'm not... I can't control that. :(

I should be able to answer tomorrow's question on time! Now I have to run back to other things I didn't take care of in the past couple of days... I hope knowing you guys were high in my list of To Do Things make you proud! :D
erychan86: (Mood: Hot)
OMG, is it already the 19th of July? How is it even possible? I have to thank you guys, because, if it wasn't for these questions I wouldn't be spending any time at all on LJ and I would be get very upset at myself!

As for today question: - What is a food that you would never try and why? [livejournal.com profile] thegrownupthing

Basically, everything that is shown in this video LOL

LOL, yeah, I would not try anything that looks that disgusting.

My dad is a chef, so he made me try very interesting things growing up, but most of the times it's all about the presentation (and the smell), isn't it? I ate a lot of things I would have never tried if I knew what they were and if they looked like what they were... :D Food needs to look and smell good... :D
