There is one thing that all good scrapbook pages do: they tell a story.
A scrapbook is a story and scrapbooking is storytelling.
Scrapbookers today are preserving yesterday for tomorrow.

I'm here!

I'm not planning to leave any time soon and I'm in the frame of mind I am going to go when/if they show me the door, but not before that!

I just realized I commented a couple of post, but I've never made a post about my staying, so here I am! If I have to be honest, the new policy didn't scare me a bit... This might be alarming as in there are so many scary things happening right now that this isn't even in the "moderately afraid" pile.

I have a Dreamwidth Account just for back up reasons only, but I'm not planning to go over there like at all for now! I am doing it just so that I can have a back up of all the lovely conversations I had with you guys... But, if something goes wrong with LJ, I don't think I'm going to post over there, but I'm sure we'll find a way to stay in touch... (on my main page there are links to my facebook/instagram/youtube/... accounts) but feel free to add me on DW as I am adding you, because I know myself and I might change my mind!

Life is sort of crazy right now and I am not spending a lot of time around here, but I hope to come back and be more active soon!
erychan86: (Dan Stevens)
A random update is long over due, so here it is...

Just let me say this first: Dear Beauty and the Beast franchise, here, take all my money, this is my wallet, this is my bank account number, just take it... Just give me my dignity back... Because I'm 30 years old and I can't cry at the movies like that for a Disney Movie (I can do it at home any time, but NOT at the movies) I just can't.

Okay, now that this is out of my system... before I spend the evening obsessing over Dan Stevens (I fell for the guy when I saw him on Legion to be honest with you... I mean, you know me... crazy skinny guys? I just have to go there), let me tell you a little bit about my life at the moment.

☾ As you can tell from the title I'm at war with a woodpecker who's annoying the whole neighborhood, pecking like he's on crack or something! We don't have a bug problem, but he just looooooves insulation material, and he's having the time of his life pulling it out, and having a laugh! Thing is... he's a beautiful bird so, I feel bad hating him so much! So, now he pecks and I knock on the wall to make him stop, and then I see him going to the neighbors and then - in 30 minutes - he's back, and we start our dance all over again!

☾ Today I had a pretty good day. I had coffee with my friend/former realtor Winnie, we ended up chatting for 2 hours no stop. Next time we're going to be more active, and go do one of these painting classes where they offer wine and cheese and you pretend you're there because you feel like creating!

☾ After coffee, I went for a bike ride and I went to get some sushi for lunch. There was a lot of people in front of me and the place is not that big. A girl came in after me and, since she was alone as I was, I asked if she wanted to join me if I got a table... It seemed such a waste to sit on a big table alone while people were going hungry. We ended up talking for an hour and an half, and we had a great lunch! At the end of it I said "that was fun, it was like a surprise blind date" and we had a final laugh. That was fun and it felt nice!

I have to vent on one stupid thing! Is it just me or it's THE MOST ANNOYING THING EVER when you are walking/biking and someone pass by on a car and honks or shouts a "complimet"? THANK YOU A$$H0LE, NOW THAT YOU APPRECIATED ME, I FEEL SO GOOD! GO FU*K YOURSELF! Thing is... in Italy, it happens too, but I yell back or i give them the finger... I can't do it here because WHAT IF THEY HAVE A GUN? I hate it! And it happens all the time! I just wish I could answer and shut them up!

☾ And I just want to talk a little about Beauty and the Beast so SPOILER FREE: I loved it! It was so damn good, and I did cry real tears, not internet tears! Everything was perfect... Once Upon a Time sort of ruined Belle and "the Beast" for me, I forgot how good the real thing was... Eric never saw it and doesn't know the story (he lived under a rock) so it's going to be fun showing it to him... and nowSPOILERS )
☾ Also I have another secret that will be revealed soon! :D I know you hate me for this LOL!

Okay! That was a big one! I am going to go start Downton Abbey so I can enjoy some more Dan Stevens (and I need to see this show otherwise my friends will stop talking to me) and wait for amazon to put the DVD/BLU-RAY on sale/pre-sale! I want like 30 copies! I can't wait to see all the extras... I'm still hoping in an extra scene like in Pride and Prejudice (2005) at the end! :D Remember, when Darcy and Lizzie decide how to call one another now that they're married... Maybe we can have a scene with Belle and the Prince talking about something! xD
erychan86: (Anime/Manga)
Sorry I haven't post in a week, but life it's sort of strange right now xD I will be back, I prmise, as soon as things "calm down" a noch!

Since I really can't wait to go to the movies to see Beauty and the Beast, and this morning I had a long chat with my friends on Whatsapp about Disney Movies , I thought to go with this question for the Flist Friday this week!

- What is your favorite Disney Movie?
- Which one is your favorite Disney Princess? How about the Prince?
- What is the Disney movie that made you cry the most?
- Best Song?

- What is your favorite Disney Movie?
The Sword in the Stone and Robin Hood... I really can't choose!

- Which one is your favorite Disney Princess? How about the Prince?
When I was little my Favorite Princess was The Sleeping Beauty because she had WONDERFUL hair... Now it's Rapunzel because of her personality! Favorite Prince Eric from the Little Mermaid <3 Dark hair and blue eyes? <3

- What is the Disney movie that made you cry the most?
My parents remember still how much I cried when they brought me to see Bambi... I don't remember, but I'd say either Bambi or the Lion King. You all know about what moments I am talking about!

- Best Song?
The Circle of Life (Lion King) was pretty damn good as well as Can You Feel The Love Tonight (Lion King)
erychan86: (Mood: Blank)
Sorry, I'm struggling to keep up with LJ these days, I hope you understand... We're moving in and there's so much to do! The place THANKFULLY is perfect and needs very little attention. We already decided what to keep and what to replace and we're making progress, but we have a lot of things we need to go through... We lived with our stuff in storage units for YEARS now and we don't even remember what we have!

Eric will be gone (for a WHOLE MONTH) in a week and I now need to concentrate on us and the house! Sorry! I will be back as soon as I have enough time to sit for more than 5 minutes!

P.S. Happy International Women's Day to you all wonderful women out there <3

“Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
- Harriet Tubman
erychan86: (Han Solo (Star Wars))
I feel randomly romantic today so the question for the flist friday today is ship related!

I had so many questions related to this topic but I tried to keep it easy, but feel free to add pics, gif or/and notes, I know we all have a lot to say when it comes to our fandoms xD

What was your first ship?
What is the TV ship you're obsessed with now? (It can be more than one, I'm not that evil xD)
Movie Ship? Book Ship? Real Life Ship? Anime/Cartoon Ship?
I will ship this forever:

my answers )
erychan86: (Real Life: Books)
I've been bad this month. Just 3 books... I have been busy with all that was required of me for the purchase of the condo and now Eric is back and we're so incredibly busy... But it's not an excuse. Not even the fact that one of the books I read was pretty bad and another one was extremely heavy... I didn't know I was buying a book about the holocaust and I could not bring myself to read more than a few pages a day because I was getting so sad...

So this is what I read on February:

STATS:
- books read: 3 (tot 9)
- pages read: 1188 (tot 3325)
- average page per day: ~42 (~55)

January 2017 Books )
erychan86: (Ship: Phryne/Jack [Miss Fisher])
Note: I'm writing this in a state oh hysteria because this is so damn good I can't handle it!

I am completely in love with this show.

I am so in love I've made (and added to my userpics) two icons and I added a rotating header of Miss Phryne Fisher and Detective/Inspector John "Jack" Robinson, I ship it so hard that I could break!

If you haven't watch this show yet STOP EVERYTHING and go on Netflix... You'll thank me!

banner.jpg

First I want to share this, when my friends and I talk about someone who's hot... but very very HOT, we are use to say something like "my underwear just caught fire" or "my underwear flew out of my window" well... That's what happened with me 3 seconds after I saw Nathan Page's face in all its perfection... Binge watching this show has been a challenge for my underwear drawer... I need to go online and buy more... I mean:

HOW, GODDAMN IT, HOW?

And another pair of undies is gone...

So we were saying you should watch the series... This is why:

CLICK CLICK CLICK )
Are you watching it yet?

So... For as much as I understood, they're thinking about making 3 movies? Since Essie is in London and quite busy and Nathan is doing 39 steps with The South Australian Theatre Company (SATC) (I am considering... I always wanted to visit Australia and I often go to the theatre when I go visit a new place... xD) I have to say I am quite happy with the ending because it's not a big cliffhanger and I'm sort of scared of what the writer could do to now that we got there... There are few infos about the movies... Essie needs to be there because she's the show, but what if they do the movies just with her? Solving mysteries maybe in London with different partners in crime in every movie? As I said: Essie is the show, but the show is not the same without the rest of the gang... The fact the actress is in London now doesn't mean they can't shoot the majority of the pictures in England and some in Australia...

I don't know. For the people on my flist who watch it, do you have infos? Theories? Hit me in the comments!
And for who haven't seen it yet: what are you waiting for?
erychan86: (David Tennant (Photoshoot))
As you know I am Italian, so good food is pretty important in my life...

Like, I honestly get upset when I go to an Italian restaurant in the US and I order spaghetti and I see that watery thing appearing on front of me, or when I order a pizza and the crust taste like nothing because there is no salt in it!

So here some questions about food...

- Do you prefer sweet or savory?
- What is your favorite kind of cousine/what is your least favorite?
- Top 5 of your favorite foods / Top 5 least favorite foods.
- Taste changes: What did you like now that you didn't like when you were a kid?

my answers )

I wish you all a great weekend, if you go eat out I hope you'll go get something that's in your top 5 list! <3

I am also very happy about this "cover photo" I made! Love the coloring! I alo organized my "home video folder" on iTunes and you have to see it CLICK. Isn't is nice?

My last flist friday was almost a month ago! I am so sorry! I've been so busy and I had so much going on (I can't wait to be able to share what's going on, but I can't for now) but I'm here now! I'll try to be better and keep up with this weekly post that I like a lot because it gives me the chance to connect with you and know you better, and that's what I want to do here!

So:

Do you watch anime still or it's a thing for the past for you?
What is/was your favorite(s) anime?
Do you read manga? What's your favorite(s)?
my answers (get ready for some gifs and tons of links) )
erychan86: (Real Life: Books)
I decided to change the format for this monthly post because what I was doing does not work very well with my layout (it worked when I was posting about a book every time I finihed one, but this way it looks messy). I am almost sure I will change again, but for now I think I like it!

STATS:
- books read: 6
- pages read: 2137
- average page per day: ~70

January 2017 Books )

I am very proud of myself because last January I read only one book during the mont of January! I feel very positive about my goodreads reading challenge this year!

Best Book of the Month: It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
Worst Book of the Month: Wild Woods by Posie Graeme-Evans
erychan86: (Mood: Feisty)
Hello friends. My Real Life is keeping me VERY busy, and I'm sorry if I'm short in my comments and I am super behind with my updates, but I need to take a break, and post this.

As you all know (at least the friends we have in common) on Tuesday January 24th Melissa aka [livejournal.com profile] tigtogiba34 and her boyfriend Joe, were in a serious car accident, and she is STILL currently undergoing treatment. She's fighting, but she needs help!

There is a GoFundMe campaign to help her and her family out.
You can find it HERE. I'm not the kind of person who asks for money to other people... I tend to donate and shut up about it, and not spread the word because I am weird and I feel weird about talking about this kind of things... but this time I feel like I have to! We all know - especially in the US - how ridiculously high the price of healthcare is (it's a thing that I hate over here in the States and it makes me so angry all the time... I hate this system). If all of us donate something we can make the difference. I know she would if some of us was in the same situation.

Think about the World we're living in! Just one post ago I was saying goodbye to the Obamas and saying we need to be the better version of ourselves if we want to make it through this 4 years... Skipping a breakfast at Starbucks and give these money to a cause like this can make the difference! I am not asking, I'm just saying: think about it!

Take care <3

erychan86: (Real Life: Books)
Hello Flist! Happy Friday!

The week is almost over, and I hope you all are going to have a splendid weekend off!

Before I start with the question of the week, I wanted to share a piece of news. Here, at the International Airport of Fort Lauderdale, today there was a shooting and people died! I am glad no one I knew was at the airport today, but the thing scared me more than expected! I live 10 minutes away from the airport, and I can still hear outside a lot of police cars, and ambulances and sirens in general outside! It is scary! And, even if I didn't know anybody there I feel a sense of connection with these people! And I'm taking it almost personally! They caught the guy but I need to know why he did it, and how was it possible that he made it to Gate 2 with a gun! I know none of you on my FList were traveling down in Florida or out of it, so I am pretty sure you're all right! <3

But let's move to a brighter topic. Here's your question(s) I have for you today:

What are you reading at the moment?
What is your favorite genre?
Do you have set your goodreads goal for the year? What is it going to be?
BONUS: Mention 5 books you REALLY enjoyed in 2016

I am now reading Somerset by Leila Meacham. This is a prequel of the book (I think) made her famous: Roses. It's a very long book and I am very proud of myself for picking it up! It's over 600 pages and I am already 200 pages into it. It's a very easy read... If you are a fan of movies like Gone With The Wind, this might be the book for you!

My favorite genre is probably Historical Fiction, followed by SciFi and Romance (but not the kind of romance books with a Fabio on the Cover... I need more in a book that just romance).

I have set a goodreads goal and I set it again to 30. Last year I ended up reading 40 books! This year I want to read more than that, but I want to start with 30 and see how I go before changing it!

The 3 books I've enjoyed the most this past 2016 were:
- The Gravity of Birds by Tracy Guzeman
- The Edge of the Earth by Christina Schwarz
- The Violinist of Venice: A Story of Vivaldi by Alyssa Palombo
- Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter
- Man Walks Into a Room by Nicole Krauss

I can't wait to read your answers! Stay safe this weekend! Love you guys <3!
erychan86: (Real Life: Books)
Last year I set my Goodreads Challenge to 30 books.... When I reached my goal I set it up to 36 and I ended up with 40 (38 plus a short story and a graphic novel) I set my goal at 30 again this year, but I will probably change it down the line! Thing is I am starting with a book that is 606 pages long! So I feel a little bit overwhelmed already LOL!

I'll soon do either the book meme or a personal top 5 of the books I've read this year (and I'll do the same for shows and movies probably), but for now: Here's what I've read this month:

Lord of the Flies

A great classic! I loved going back reading some of these books this year! This is another heavy one! A book that must be read multiple times on our lives to allow us to reflect on something very important about the human kind. I'm glad I did it this year, I'll probably come back to this book again later on in my life!

The Princess Diarist
Originally published: October 18th 2016
Author: Carrie Fisher
Genre: Non Fiction / Autobiography
(reading time: Dec 19- Dec 23)
★★★★
I wanted to put my hands on this book as soon as I've heard the rumor Carrie was writing it... I have to confess I was way too interested in the truth about her and Harrison, especially if given in the form of diary pages written by a 19 year old Carrie...

I enjoyed this book more that I expected... I wasn't after all expecting a lot of details about how they did it, when they did it, how many times, how was it,... but I appreciate the way it was written. I've never read anything from Fisher and I enjoyed her way of telling stories, she's - as much as this adjective might sound weird when used for her - candid... she tells you thing for what they are... she seems True to herself and to her fans...

The Little Bookshop on the Corner
Originally published: Feb 11th, 2016

This was a surprisingly good read! A very light book, highly recommended. The characters are very enjoyable and feel quite real and have layers! I enjoyed the dialogue and the whole narrative. A very good book!

I wasn't expecting the romance and I wasn't expecting it to happen that way! The only "negative thing" I can say is: I felt the end was a little bit rushed, 50 more pages would have not hurt to explore a little bit more Nina's situation in the romantic department... It feels like it happened too fast and it wasn't properly trigged!

But it was a good book and I really enjoyed it! I will read more about this author!

SCRAPBOOK 2016 )
erychan86: (Community: Abed)
Hello guys!

Sorry, last week I've missed FList Friday! I've been very bad and I should make amend by asking you the WORST QUESTION EVER!

Well, it's not the worst one... the worst ones are the questions you get asked when you see some members of you family after a long time (usually at Christmas) and they ask you:
(if you are in school) How's school?
(if you are out of school) Are you dating someone?
(if you are daring someone) When are you guys going to get married?
(if you are married) When are you going to have kids?

It's like you can't do anything right!

So my question is:

What are you doing for New Year's Eve?

I told you it was bad!

I am doing absolutely NOTHING! I hate NYE and I'm never going to change my opinion about it... You feel like you have to have the best of times and you never do! I tried go clubbing, dinner with friends in restaurants, dinner with friends at someone's place, parties at my place, drive all over the city just because the streets were empty and gas was not that pricy, spent it with my family, spent it with strangers, spent it with a lot of people, spent it with a few,... I was so happy when I was working on that night... So I could say "oh, no sorry, I'll be working, yes, I know... it sucks... maybe next year?"!

That's why I left Italy before it! So I could do nothing! I hope you had better experiences and this question is not as bad as it is for me! The only thing I can say is I'm glad this year is almost gone! Welcome 2017... You have to do very little in order to be better than your precedessor! So take it easy :)

Sorry. Now I have to go cry in that corner because this gif of Rose is too painful and I don't know why I'm doing this to myself!

HAPPY NEW YEAR YOU AWESOME LOT!
erychan86: (Craig Ferguson: Craig Approves)
Hey you guys!!!

I just wanted to wish you all who celebrate it:

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I hope you had a great one! And, for the ones of you who don't celebrate it, I hope you'll have a fantastic normal day too!

I will be sending Christmas with my family for the first time in 6 years and I couldn't be more excited! There's going to be so much food! OMG I'm full already!

I just wanted to say I am glad I came back on LJ this year! It was great getting to know my new friends and reconnect with the old ones! Thank you for being part of my year! I can't wait to start the next one and get to know you all better!

XOXO

Hello there!

I missed my Flist Friday last week and I remembered on Sunday. I thought it was too late to do one and so I decided not to do it! If you were expecting one and I left you disappointed, I'm sorry! :(

Since everyone is busy because of the holidays, I thought to ask an easy question this time... Okay, maybe not "easy", but quick?

What is your favorite Christmas Movie? Why?

My favorite Christmas movie is - as the gif I choose might have gave it away - Home Alone. It is my favorite because it was always on around Christmas and I rarely sat down watching movies with my dad, and that was the only movie, I can remember, the three of us (Mom, dad and I) watched together. I am sure there were others, but that one stuck somehow! And I just love the story! :D

So what's your favorite?
