July 18th - What is a place that you would never visit and why? [livejournal.com profile] thegrownupthing

I honestly would gladly go anywhere! If I had unlimited funds and time I would go anywhere... I would travel for pleasure and for knowledge. I would visit beautiful rich cities and heartbreaking poor villages. There's no place I'd never go... :)

And I'm lucky Eric feels the same... He wants to go see the world and visit again places he has been already... All we have to do is win the lottery and we're set :D
erychan86: (Community: Abed)
Let's start with the question of the day: July 17th - What fandom do you find disturbing? [livejournal.com profile] thegrownupthing

I thought about this one for a while and I'm glad to say: I don't find any fandom disturbing... Although, there are people on every fandom that can be a little bit over the top and sometimes disturbing, but that can be amusing sometimes!

Maybe I'm just lucky I've never encounter a fandom made out of crazy people... I kind of want to find out if there are any...

---
Eric and I have been planning to go for a hike for a while now, and finally we did it. The day was gorgeous and - since the path was mostly in the shades - it wasn't too hot, but we managed to get some sun anyway! The path leading us to the Shrine of Nostra Signora della Guardia (photo HERE) was as beautiful as I remembered! It was the first time for Eric and he LOVED the hike and he wants to do it again... Luckily, one of the access points to the path is just next to our place.
Here a photo we took!

#Photoinception ! I had a great hike with @eob555 today! Take the path from Livellato (basically outside our door) to the #SantuarioDellaMadonnaDellaGuardia we've been meaning to do this for a long time now, and we finally got around it! #GloriousDay!!! #photooftheday #genova #like4like #follow4follow #hike #erychan_ph #green #photointhephoto #hike #path #love #instagram #instagood #iphoneonly

I promised him to bring him to so many places, but the boat schedule is crazy, with the owner coming almost every weekend, so I don't know how many promises I'd be able too keep! I'm glad he had fun on this little adventure of hours... When we got back home, we were welcomed by some bad news: one of our colleagues had a biking (bicycle not motorbike) accident last night, and he broke his tibia (shinbone). He missed a bend and flew over the armor guard railing, he was traveling too fast, and he couldn't brake in time. We'll know more about how bad it is tomorrow, we sent him a message and he said he's okay (as much as someone can be with a broken leg), but we'll go visit him tomorrow... I'm not very excited about seeing some of my former colleagues (just one to be honest... I might get lucky) but Marino is a very good friend and I really want to see him!

After the hospital visit, Eric and I have tickets to go see Suzanne Vega Live. Eric is very excited about it. :)

July 16th - What are your favourite crisps (you can pick one for Italy and one for America if you want :)) [livejournal.com profile] thegrownupthing

There can only be an answer to this question: Stacey's Peeta Chips Simply Naked. I usually eat them with an Avocado, Tomato and Feta dip and I could have it every day for the rest of my life and I wouldn't even complain!

But also HarvestSnaps: Snapea Crisp Wasabi Rach are pretty damn good!

When I'm in Italy, now that I think about it, I don't eat crisps... Maybe because I have focaccia and that's my to go snack food! :D

Today Pokémon Go will be released in the Italian Apple Store.. That means I'll have some competition and I don't like that! I want to catch them ALL! It also mean I won't be the only one walking around holding my phone in a very weird way xD

Here's today question: What's the most expensive present you have ever bought for someone else? [livejournal.com profile] thegrownupthing
Mmmmh... The last couple of years - due to my job - I've lost Christmases, Birthdays and Weddings. At Christmas, on board, we had a 50$ budget for Secret Santa, and it has been that way for 4 years now... And my family doesn't want me to send them anything, because than they have to deal with the delivery issues and also they feel like they have to send something back, and I don't want to put them in this position...

The person I spend more money on is Eric but they're rarely things... We often buy each other concert tickets (for him) theatre tickets (for me) but mostly we buy each others vacations. For instant, for his birthday we went to the Disney Hollywood Studios and I paid for the hotel and the tickets. But I don't know which trip costed me the most, but yes, it was definitely something connected to a vacation.
erychan86: (Real Life: Books)
My lovely RL friend Ella (I guess you like this name better, right?) aka [livejournal.com profile] thegrownupthing asked: What happens to your books after you read them?

I'll start by saying: I keep them ALL, I never give them away or even lend them... I'm very jealous of my books... When I read a book I create a connection with it... It's sharing its story with me, only... He becomes a friend and I would never lend a person... I don't even lend them to my husband sometimes.

As for what I do with them when I turned the last page well, I wish I could say I put them in my enormous library (The Beauty and The Beast style or like in the Citadel in GoT) but for now, my books are shattered between Italy and America. In Italy I keep them in my old bedroom (my parents kept it how I left it for my cat who, apparently, spend there the majority of her day when I'm not here) they're all well organized in shelves, and I used to reorganize them ALL THE TIME! In the US they are I feel sad just thinking about it in my Storage Unit. I have tubs and tubs full of them and they're just waiting for me to move into an apartment and to be organized in shelves... That day it's close! I can't wait... It saddens me to think about them in that dark space!

erychan86: (Harrison Ford)
July 13th - Harrison Ford's birthday! What turned you into a Harrison fangirl? (feel free to include photos...lots and lots of photos....) [livejournal.com profile] orangerful

Be careful what you wish for [livejournal.com profile] orangerful, because I have tons of Harrison Ford Photos in my HD!

But, first: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HARRISON... YOU WONDERFUL HUMAN!

To answer your question, I don't actually know where it all started or when. I just noticed he was/is very good looking in the Star Wars Movies and the Indiana Jones saga, that made me want to know more about the guy, and I started watching some of his interviews on youtube... Starting from the past and slowly getting closer to the present.

I lack of patience, but I make up for it with a lot of perseverance, a quality that young Harrison shares with me. It took him a while to get where he wanted to be, and eventually he succeeded... And there's nothing I like more than seeing someone - who deserves it - to get rewarded. Something way too rare. I loved how, in his first interviews (as well as the new ones) he was always aware of what he had, without taking it for granted, and he's always been so humble and just happy to be part of something. One of the most amazing interviews I saw was the one on "Inside the Actor Studio". He was just perfect. Maybe it was that interview that made me become an hard core fangirl...

Or maybe it was all because of this photos:
Get On Board the Fangirl Train )

I could go on for days :) Gosh, he has the best face ever!
erychan86: (Ship: Ten/Rose [Doctor Who])
Sorry... I'm late for yesterday's question!!! Time is passing way too fast for me right now... And it seems like I'm unable to do anything! (Lie: yesterday I spent the whole day catching Pokémon)

So yesterday question was: July 12th - What is the oldest fandom you are still in? [livejournal.com profile] verdande_mi

I think that technically, the oldest fandom I'm in is: Doctor Who. I haven't seen all the old school episodes, but it's difficult to get hold of them. Doctor Who started in 1963... so yes, technically it's the oldest show around... Even if I stepped into the fandom in 2006, I've been part of it for 10 years... The only other show I followed for 10 years is Friends, so I guess Doctor Who is the right answer to this question :)

July 10th - What is one superpower that you've always wanted to have? In addition to that, what is the main benefit of that ability, and what is the main drawback? [livejournal.com profile] rogueslayer452

I would be lying if I was saying I've never thought about it... Damn it... I would be lying even if I was saying I didn't think about it at least once a month for the past 30 years. I gave it a lot of thought, and I know exactly what I would want  my super power to be: INVISIBILITY. Okay. It can sound sad, but hear me out... First, there are 2 conditions to my power:

1. I would have to be able to control it completely. Nothing random, permanent or controlled by strong emotions. I would be fully in control. Like I have an internal switch.

2. When invisible, I would be able to keep my clothes on, they would be invisible too.

The main benefits would be: I would be able to travel all over the world for free. Getting on a plane without a thicket, and go to visit all the places. I would not have to work in order to have money, because I would be able to invest what I have by simply listening to conversations (No robbing banks :) ). I would know ALL the secrets, because I'll be able to be at the right place at the right time. I would be able to observe and to prevent bad things from happening. It would give me wisdom and fill me experiences. The only drawback would be getting addicted to it, and maybe feeling like I could do more and more and more and not having enough time to do it all, because the range of what I can choose would be so wide to make me go crazy...

Any of you thought about what super power would be the best one? I would be curious to know, so please leave a comment!!!

[livejournal.com profile] endeni asked: Favorite GoT character(s) and why?

Easy...

THIS guy:

I feel a connection with him... He just speaks to my soul xD Look at all the fu#ks he gives... ABSOLUTELY NONE! LOL.
Thank you [livejournal.com profile] endeni for that (s) because if you wanted me to choose just one I would have been in trouble. My favorite (main) characters are 3: Tyrion, Arya and Jaime (I love Jon Snow too but just not as much as these three... He's close though...)

Tyrion: Loved him since the beginning. He's sharp and cynic and made of sass and, when least expected, he looks at you with these puppy eyes... As he said I have a tender spot in my heart for cripples, bastards and broken things and I feel that way too... I like him so much that I end up liking all the characters around him and, if he's part of a storyline, he makes it more interesting. Look at Dany... Her storyline before was not that interesting... For me it was too disconnected from the other ones, but now? It's great. Bronn? LOVE him because of Tyrion. Everything he touches it turns into gold to me!

Arya: I love bad ass girls and Arya is the ultimate bad ass girl! I'm just rooting for her and it would break me if she doesn't get what she wants in the end.

Jaime: I don't know how many people would put him among his top favorite but I find his character extremely interesting. He had a great development. I like him a lot when he's far away from Cersei. I think he's doomed unfortunately... I don't think he'll survive the next season, but I can't see anything good happening to him. :( I hope he'll get the chance to be reunited with Tyrion because they have such a sweet relationship...
erychan86: (Default)
For July 6th, [livejournal.com profile] rogueslayer452 asked What is one social issue that you're absolutely passionate about?

I'm very passionate about a lot of things... There are topics I can go on and on about for hours... But tend not to talk about important issues on social networks... I'm not the kind of person that would fill her Facebook with links about cruelty to animals, the fact were fucking up our planet, the cost of education (not even that good education) but that doesn't mean I don't care about this things... I just want to avoid to have a Internet fight... I rather being able to punch my enemy in the face... Kidding! I'M KIDDING... My upper body is way too weak for me to even think about it, LOL

One social issue I'm very vocal about right now, is the cost of health insurance in the US and the whole fucked up system. But just because it touches me directly, and I have a problem with the fact that I have to pay a company that sees me as a bag with the dollar sign on it... To them I'm not a person but an opportunity to get rich... But that's a recent thing..

The social issue I'm more passionate about is the false equality of the LGBT community. I'm heterosexual but I have many friends who are gay and bi and just the thought they can be hated/mistreated or threaded in a lesser way than me just because of who they LOVE made me angry and sad in equal measure. Some people think that now that gay marriage is legal everything is fine, but there is such a long way to go... If I rationalize I can understand (I don't accept it and I never will)every kind of hate. I can understand (I really have to force myself) how people can think their God is the right one and other believers are wrong. I can understand hate due to something perceived as an injustice as in "why is that guy better than me just because he was born in that particular country?" But, I can force myself to try as much as humanly possible, I'll never be able to understand how someone can hate someone else because of whom he decides to love. WHY?

I worry because this is what I do, and I hate thinking that my friends, my family and people I don't know, are bullied, killed, hated, avoided,... Just because they have a heart that needs to find its other half!

I hope the next generations are going to become smarter, kinder and more compassionate because there is no difference between anyone of us... Unless we decide so...

HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!
Did you guys see the GoogleDoodle of the day? So CUTE!!! With all the Stars celebrating!!! The hubby asked "What's going on with the Ku Klux Klan rally in the background?" LOL, silly hubby! These stars are waiting for their Hot Dogs... Awwww! Back to business now!

[livejournal.com profile] orangerful asked me: 3 random things that drive you crazy about the U.S.

I've been in Italy for 2 days now, and so many things already rubbed me in the wrong way/annoyed me that I can't think about anything I don't absolutely love and miss about the U.S. right now! So I'm going to have to really think about it!

1. Right on Red. I'm a biker and a pedestrian first. I use the car too, but I love to walk and bike to places if they're not that far... Americans, and especially the people that install traffic lights, like their cars and they don't care about the needs of a pedestrian as WE NEED TO GET SOMEWHERE TOO... So, if you have to cross one of the main streets (I'm looking at you, you damn US1) you have to press the button, and wait for the green man to appear... the only problem is: it takes that thing FOREVER to do what you're asking it to do! And when it gets green (and in the meantime you had time to check all your emails and answer them, like Instagram photos, comment on every status on Facebook up to a month prior that, wrote a rant about traffic lights on tumblr, etc) cars are allowed to run you over anyway because there is this rule that you can make a right turn on red! The green light for the pedestrian anyway lasts 20 seconds, so you have to dodge cars and RUN on the other side of the street, because if you don't get there in time, a wall of cars will come and get you!

2. The Cost of Health Insurance and the fact that they'll do whatever it takes not to pay for your crazy expansive Hospital Bills. Luckily I'm healthy and I didn't have to deal with any of this sh!t, but my husband had to in the past (before he met me). He had to go to the hospital to get his appendice removed. They did the surgery and then sent him home but something went wrong and he had to go back and he had to stay in the hospital for 5 days because of a mistake the doctors made. 5 days in the hospital cost >50k $. He was working with his brother and he had self insurance (and he was paying a lot) when the insurance saw the bill they went through their records trying to find an excuse not to pay. And they found it. Eric got a mole removed. It was on his arm and he decided to get rid of it for aesthetics reasons, it was a normal mole, not a melanoma. He never had cancer. And in the insurance forms he said he never did! The insurance said he lied, because they could see he had a mole removed and - if they knew in the first place - they would have never insure him. So, Eric had to pay the bill from his pocket. This insurance costed him money and for what? I hate it! It's so unfair! And me, as a green card holder, I can only self insure myself (or get an insurance through my job) and if I get pregnant (like we're planning to, not now but kind of soon) I'm not covered! And bring a life into this World, with no complications costs 15k $. (if you need a C section 25k $) WHAT?

3. Guns. I mean, why do you even need them in the first place? Just get rid of them!

Bonus: Donald Trump... That guy drives me insane...

July 3rd - 3 random things you like about living in America [livejournal.com profile] orangerful

Thanks for your question [livejournal.com profile] orangerful, it also comes in the most perfect moment, since I'm now in Italy and I feel home sick (I call America home when I'm here and Italy home when I'm there).

I love America, it is a great country, and I'm proud to be almost part of it. I can't wait to go through the Naturalization Process (2 years, 2 months and 20 days, but who's counting?) and I love how - now that I'm "on my way" - I'm starting to appreciate my birth country as well. So, here are the 3 things that I love, not in a particular order, and - as requested - completely random!

1. Free Wi-Fi everywhere. If you get lost and your phone doesn't have internet, you can step inside a Starbucks or any other place and access to their free wifi and get yourself sorted. It can sound silly but it's huge. You can't even imagine how many times I landed somewhere in Europe, freaking out because my flight was late and I had to run to get my connection, thinking "if I get stuck here how am I going to let my family/friends/colleagues (whomever was suppose to come and pick me up that day) know where I am? It happened way too many times (especially when was the Boat Purser the one to book the flights, always with less than an hour between them) or even when you get separated from your friends or one of them disappear and this person doesn't have credit on the phone, knowing that there are places with free wifi puts your mind at ease. (Also Starbucks there has this Google plan, and it's so fast I go nuts! On the boat we had a limited access and I every evening after 5 I would go to Starbucks to do my thing)

2. When you go grocery shopping you can find every kind of food, and some places are open 24/7. In Italy if you want to eat something not contemplated by the mediterranean diet, you can find it on a little tiny shelf in a far away aisle, where you can find just a couple of things. Like I can't find Salsa or Queso, I can't find ramen noodles, I can't find Sriracha Sauce, and I can go on and on and on. If in an American grocery store I wouldn't  be able to find an Italian items I would go nuts. I will be yelling in the middle of an aisle "WHERE IS MY DAMN PASTA?" (while the camera slowly walks away from me picturing a perfectly dramatic scene). I'm glad I don't have to deal with it. Every country and every food is well represented. Plus: coupons <3

3. People are nice, and seems to care about you. It also drives me insane, because I want people to be nice toward me when they want to be nice... but it's great not to have deal with rude people all the time!!!

I bet that if I think about it I can came up with something more profound and meaningful, but you asked for random... :D

July 1st - What was your first fandom? [livejournal.com profile] verdande_mi

First, Thanks for your question [livejournal.com profile] verdande_mi :)
This question it's somehow tricky. I can give you 2 answers, one more focused on the word "fandom" and the other on the word "first":

Acording to google:

fandom
ˈfandəm/<input ... >
noun
noun: fandom; plural noun: fandoms

  1. the state or condition of being a fan of someone or something.
"my 17 years of sports fandom"

    • the fans of a particular person, team, fictional series, etc. regarded collectively as a community or subculture.
      "the Breaking Bad fandom"

My first fandom - as in "for this series I started surfing the internet looking for spoilers, discovered fan fictions, joined forums, start making music videos,..." would be House.
I remember when it started. It was the day before the fourth day of my High School Final Exam (in Italy your finals last 4 days: 3 days of written tests and one day with the oral test). I was very nervous because my professors were very difficult:  they wanted us to talk about our thesis (as the only girl in the class, mine was about the role of the woman in the evolution of the human kind from the 18th century until today) and also be able to answer questions about things that we learnt during the past 5 years... They were allowed to ask us about an author we've read on your first year, or a way of coding we've learn on the their year, or a chemical experiment we've done on your 4th year. Basically nerve wreaking.
So, the night before the exam I was going through all my notebooks, overloading my graphic memory and doing more damage than anything else. A friend of mine called me and begged me to please stop. "Turn on the TV and let your brain relax, you're going to be fine. Anyway you know what you know now... you can't learn anything else" so - for once, I listened to my friend and I turned on the TV and there was House. I crashed as hard as I could on Hugh Laurie and the morning after I felt relaxed and I passed my exam (the 4 other guys that were schedule on my same day didn't pass and they had to repeat the whole year... so yes... my professors were though and evil).

So House was now surrounded by a aura of luck and possibilities and marked the end of an era and a new beginning so it called to me. I loved the first 2/3 seasons, I was an hard core House/Cameron (Hameron, Cotton Candy) so I joined a forum where I met people that 11 years after that day are still in my life, and some are very close to me (we talk everyday about non-fandom stuff, we go on holiday together,...). That summer I started other shows as well. My english was awful in High School but I wanted to watch House so I started watching in in english and now I can speak the language. I owe House so much somehow. So I can't be mad at David Shore for fucking it up. Thanks to the show I met amazing people, I've learnt a language that led me to get an awesome job and marry an american... I won't be who I am today if I didn't listen to that phone call that day!

But the first show I started following and be interested in (without the internet part, that came later for that show too) was The Nanny I watched it every evening during dinner with my parents, and it was the first show I was actually interested in, as in: I was shipping and be careful not to miss the beginning of the show. Again, The Nanny was important to me also because we were watching it as a family, so it has a special place in my heart.

P.S.: If an anime can hava a fandom then Sailor Moon.

July has just began so feel free to ask me more questions :) HERE

Guys Community. The Office and The Big Bang Theory are BACK! I laughed so much today my tummy still hurts! Betty White was so awesome but I don't want to say nothing more about the episode just in case you haven't seen it yet but it was amazing! Oh and I missed Dwight and Sheldon so much! Oh and Jim, JIIIIIM ♥ I saw a movie with John Krasinski the other day: License to Wed and there were a lot of guys forom The Office on it! The movie was nice and he was so cute... I also saw The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson yesterday and there was The Big Bang Theory Night, I so love Jim Parson and he was hilarious, the best e-mail segment EVER! And he talked about Kaley who wasn't there because she broke a leg, poor thing and he said "I miss you Kaley" and I went gaga for the rest of the show! Such an amazing show!
I think I'm going to love my fridays even more that I already do! Fringe is back too and the premiere was amazing, I'm so looking forward the next episode.

But now it's meme!time.

Day 29- WHAT SHIP HAD THE BEST PROPOSAL?
I've chosen this couple for day Day Twelve too, but as I said before I chose a moment not a pairing and that day I also chose 3 different weddings so... You've been lawyered! :P
And how I could not choose this proposal? This question was maybe the easiest one.
OMG Courtney is so skinny!

Day 29 - What ship had the best proposal? )

And so... tomorrow will be my last day! I'm getting sentimental... I bet you all already know what will be my answer to this question: Day 30 - Your favorite ship forever and ever and ever?
So, I think I'll see you tomorrow. Bye :)

*Noooooooo I don't want to leave the Shippers Club noooooooooooo!*

erychan86: (The Doctor (anim))
OMG just 2 days left! I can't believe this meme is almost over. That's sad! It's been almost a month and I posted every day thing that I thought was impossible for me to do but I did! I know it's not over yet so I shouldn't say that since every time I say "I'll never do that" in acouple of days I end up doing that. Maybe I should say: I'll never be ridiculously rich. In a couple of days I'll let you know how it worked LOL!

Day 28- A PAIRING THAT YOU'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND?
I miss this kind of ANGST!

Well I don't understad how people could ship them! There is no point! David and Freema have chamistry, they're a great together but was obvious that this wasn't possible at all since the very beginning. He made it pretty clear, he was in love with Rose and don't say he wasn't because I can call Julie Gardner, well it's not like I can call her but I can show you a clip from a confidential xD. I just I don't understand why there are so many shippers of this pairing out there, I can understand you may hate Rose but how that could lead to became a Ten/Martha shipper it's something I don't get!
